After all the planning and the stress of the wedding you need to make sure that you plan a nice relaxing honeymoon in order to take some time out to spend with your new husband or wife. However, a friend of mine who is getting married next year has decided to go for a mini-moon straight after the wedding and she is going to be going on the honeymoon later in the year. This is the first person I know who has done this, apart from Prince William and Catherine Middleton, and I think it seems like a great idea. I can imagine that after all the excitement of the wedding and after a once in a life time honeymoon.

There have been loads of celebrity weddings in the last couple of months which has led to a lot of exposure and criticism surrounding their wedding dresses. First there was the Royal wedding of Kate Middleton and Prince William in April this year and then the other Kate (Moss) and Lily Allan also got married in the last month. Personally I feel that best wedding dress has to be Catherine Middleton’s Grace Kelly inspired dress from Sarah Burton for the fashion house of the late Alexander McQueen. Unfortunately I think the worse dress so far has to go to Lily Allan, her dress was very unflattering and made her look a lot older than 26-years-old.

Another celebrity wedding of 2011 was the marriage of pop singer Lily Allen to Sam Cooper which took place early June at St James the Great Church in the beautiful Cotswolds village of Cranham. Lily wore a vintage style lace wedding gown by French designer Delphine Manivet. Not only was this day special as Lily was marrying the man of her dreams but she also revealed at the wedding reception that she was actually 12 weeks pregnant and just visible through her dress was a very tiny bump. Lily Allen has unfortunately lost 2 babies already so everyone will be watching her closely to make sure that this pregnancy goes smoothly.

The big event of 2011 with regards to weddings has to be the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. There was so much anticipation building up about what the dress would look like, but more importantly to the fashion world, who would be designing her dress. I think that everyone in the country had to agree that Kate Middleton looked stunning in her Alexander McQueen dress which had been designed by the fashion house’s new creative director Sarah Burton. Although Kate’s dress will be remembered forever as beautiful and elegant, unfortunately whenever someone mentions fashion and the royal wedding the first thing that people will think of will be the Philip Tracy hat that Princess Beatrice wore!

At the start of this month supermodel Kate Moss married The Kills guitarist Jamie Hince at a beautiful church in the Cotwolds. Her dress was by controversially designed by John Galliano, the disgraced designer was dropped from Christian Dior (where he was creative director) earlier this year after he made anti-Semitic remarks. The wedding dress was a vintage-style creation in cream with gold embellishment across the bottom of the dress, she also wore a cream veil with a beautiful cream bouquet. The 37-year-old model also had her daughter Lila-Grace from her previous relationship with Jefferson Hack as one of her 14 bridesmaids, well it is Kate Moss so she isn’t going to do things by half, but 14 bridesmaids is a little bit excessive, even by Kate’s standards!

She’s already expecting a baby, but now she is also engaged to her rock star boyfriend Matt Bellamy.

Kate Hudson has just announced that she has got a new sparkling ring on her finger and that she plans to marry the Muse frontman.

The couple first got together at the Coachella festival which was held in California. They have only been together for a year, but already have a baby on the way and are preparing to get married.

The couple are incredibly happy about their news and although Kate was not expecting to get engaged quite so quickly, she’s very excited about becoming a wife again.

Bingo Hollywood have been a little sketchy on the details for this promotion, but as far as we know the rings will be given away between now and April 30th. Check out ohmybingo.com for more details about the site itself and the other prizes you can win.

Whenever a wedding is announced amongst my friends our first thought turns to the hen-do, where we can go to have a brilliant weekend away. The hen-do is now as an important part of the getting married process and the actual wedding days itself. First of all you need to decide if you want to stay in this country or go abroad, but keep in mind the cost implications of travelling abroad, although your wedding and your hen do might be the most important day of your year, your friends might have other holidays booked or financial constraints. It is always best to organised your hen do with your friends, you want to make sure that they can all make it and that the date you choose is one that they can all attend. Also make sure it is a destination that they can all get to, if it’s somewhere in the countryside organise a mini bus as not everyone will drive or have a car.

As a friend of mine got engaged back in November 2011, all my friends and I were hoping that she would book the wedding for later summer or early autumn in 2011 as there were no other weddings this year amongst that group of friends. However shortly after announcing her engagement she also announced that she had booked the church and the venue but that it was going to be held in October 2012, nearly 2 years exactly before the actual day. Another friend of mine booked her venue and church 18 months for the actual big day so it seems to be that if you want your dream venue or the church that you have dreamt about for years then you need to ensure that you book them all well in advance to secure your perfect day.

I was a bridesmaid last year for the first of my friends to get married and one aspect of the big day that I thought she dealt with really was picking the right bridesmaid dresses for the bridesmaid. She had 4 bridesmaids in total all of who were totally different in shape, size, colour and style. I am relatively small framed, small height and blonde, whereas another bridesmaid was very slim, very, very tall with dark hair and pale skin. However my friend had the great idea of getting all 4 bridesmaids together at the dress fitters so that we could all try on different styles and colours of dresses until she found one that we all suited and that she liked as well. There were certain styles that did not look on certain bridesmaids but in the end she managed to choose a lovely ‘crushed raspberry’ full length dress which we all felt great in.
