Daughters are seen as burdens in Indian society as huge dowries have to be paid for their weddings. Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh made an emotional appeal to save female children. During his address in a national conference on the girl child in New Delhi he said discrimination against girls began in the Indian homes. He describes this as most inhuman, uncivilized and reprehensible. He said he was not making the appeal as Indian prime minister but as a ‘proud father of three daughters’.

Indian data shows that the female child sex ratio in the o to 6 age group has been decline over the past four decades.

Despite laws against foetal sex determination being implemented few years ago, female foeticide is widespread in India. Several cases of female infanticide have also been reported from various parts of the country every year.

This is the wedding season in south Asia (especially Pakistan, India and Bangladesh) and among all other things we can not miss the importance of first night and ‘troubles’ of this night. After all long lasting traditional events the newly married couple makes their way to their bedroom in the hope of – well – privacy, but they get shocked because of the different plans mapped out by the friends and family. The most common one is to delay the couple from entering the room when they are dying to do so. Below are the few examples to describe the situation one can face.

Says Lekha Mohan, “At a cousin’s wedding we just didn’t let my BIL go his room and made him drink till 6 am,” she chuckles.

Subir Malik says: “After attending a friend’s wedding in Kolkata, I kept calling him every five minutes till almost midnight, till he finally switched his phone off.

Nidhi Goel, remembers how she troubled her brother on his wedding night.

“We placed condoms in every corner of his room! It just put them off.”

Leaving remote controlled cars, squeaky toys and stinking onions are, of course, other alternatives. So be careful folks!

After wedding every couple wants to have a honeymoon at a nice place. A brief introduction of some places popular among newlywed couples.

Hawaii and the Caribbean are at the top of the list. The credits go to the most wonderful beaches and breathe taking scenery of these islands. They are ideal places for a newlywed couple to relax and enjoy each others company.

Paris still in the top ten as it will always be known as the city of romance and have some great landmarks to go and see.

The ice hotel in Sweden is now becoming very popular with you newlyweds. I have seen the images of this hotel and really it is a place to visit / honeymoon. Even the beds are made of ice.

Well today’s news is about a fighting, which ruined the wedding reception of Mr. and Mrs. Brotherton. Here are the details…

A WEDDING reception turned into a mass brawl involving the groom, bride and best mate. Mark Brotherton and Debbie’s big day went smoothly, but in the evening bad humor flared, resulting in the groom attacking best man, Wayne Reeve.

A fight erupted at Norton Village Hall when Mr. Reeve told the newlyweds to go home and let him clear up. Mr. Brotherton took exception to that and he was verbally abusive and he punched Mr. Reeve several times, breaking his tooth. However, Brotherton denied this claiming that the DJ was responsible for hitting his former friend.

During trial in court, Mr. Reeve said Brotherton became aggressive when he insisted the couple go home, punching him in the face.

However, Brotherton said Mr. Reeve started the argument, pushing him in the chest before going outside, where he claimed another person hit his best man.

Brotherton said the pair fell out because Mr. Reeve had been trying to take over his wedding.

Debbie Brotherton said that Mr. Reeve was jealous of Mark being with me.”

Another guest at wedding claimed she saw the DJ punch Mr. Reeve in the face.

Brotherton was found guilty and fined £100. He must also pay £50 compensation and £250 court costs.

As we have discuss this thing several times now that a wedding dress could cost thousands of pounds. But this bride has got a very ‘economic’ wedding dress, made entirely of 2-ply white toilet paper and glue.

Jennifer Cannon married Doy Nichols at the free luxury public restrooms of New York City. And all expenses were paid by Cheap Chic Weddings.

The wedding dress was designed by Ms Hanah Kim who won 2007 Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Contest prize.

The dress made entirely out of a leading brand of toilet paper. Soft toilet paper was turned into a highly intricately detailed dress with cap sleeves, a neckline and a bow at the back.

The wedding ceremony and honeymoon package was paid by Charmin as part of the Charmin toilet paper promotion.

Today I would like to share two interesting news about wedding.

First news is about a flight delay because of bride’s dress. It happened when a pilot held up his flight from Edinburgh to Belfast because of a bride’s dress which was still going through security. The flight was late about 20 minutes.

It was confirmed by the spokesperson for the Airline that the captain had made a special exception for the wedding dress. Nice to hear that good customer service still exists.

In second news the new terminal 5 chaos ruined the dream wedding. Karen and Jonathan from west Yorkshire had planned their dream wedding in Hawaii but they have to put it on hold as Karen’s wedding dress got lost in terminal five.

Today’s interesting news!! In fact it should be called romantic news. Amanda Hodson married Brendan after she kissed him for a $40 dare.  This incident happened fiver years ago when Amanda’s friend threw her the challenge to kiss the next stranger to get on the bus and offered her $40 if she did. So never dreaming that her taunt would end up marrying the guy she would kiss, she walked up to the guy (Brendan) and kissed him.

Later Amanda took Brendan for a coffee with the money she won from her friend and they found that they had a lot in common.

During their relationship they kept the bus theme alive and Brendan actually proposed her while they were on the bus.  Read more…
